The sun begins shining through the curtains as I sleep on my perch. Not a deep sleep; the slightest noise will wake me. There it is! The noise of water running through the pipes in the wall across the room from my cage. Mom's awake! "Ieeek! Ieeek! Ieeek!" that will get her attention.
Sure enough, here she comes down the stairs. Gypsy starts calling out to Mom in her conure voice "Squawk! Squawk!" Always two squawks in a row. And Mom always replies "Eee Eee Tookie Tookie." Weird. I heard her tell Kevin yesterday, (after he got through laughing at her) that it is from a radio show she used to listen to when she was a teenager. People would call in to the show in the mornings and say "Ah! Ah! Eee! Eee! Tookie! Tookie! and they would get prizes. She told him that Gypsy's squawks remind her of the Ah! Ah! part of the sequence.

Mom says good morning and opens our cages. Skritches and love! Now we will get to go to the play stand in the office while mom makes our kabobs. She puts all kinds of things on there. My favorite is fig. Sometimes we get mango, and kale, and cucumber. Other times we get orange, and raspberry, and carrot, and tomato. We never know what we are going to get, or in what variety.
Well, Mom has the kabobs all loaded up so it is back to the cage. In this picture I have sweet potato, kiwi, orange, and broccoli. Sweet potato; yummmmmmmm!
Mom tells us bye as she leaves to take Kevin to school.

"Yeah, today we get a shower!" I am only glad we are getting one because I am in the mood. Sometimes I am not. On thosedays I just ignore the water and explore the counters. Or I stand on the facet and drink the water while Gypsy bathes. Gypsy ALWAYS takes a shower. Silly conure: wanting to get wet all the time. I've even seen her almost fall asleep as she sat in the sink with the water sprinkling on her back.

After the shower Mom puts us on our play stand in the office area and we preen ourselves as we dry off. Mom made the play stand by wrapping sisle rope around a clothes drying rack, and hanging toys on it. When we are in the office area I spend a lot of my day on the play stand or on a wine rack mom converted to a play stand (it sits on a counter by her desk). I play with foot toys she has placed in baskets near the wine rack. But, sometimes I fly over to investigate all the things on Mom's desk. Sometimes this works out okay. I chew on pencils, pens, and sometimes paper: I get scritches an we wrestle a little. Other times Mom seems to be none too happy with what I get my beak on. "Cleo, leave the mouse alone. Let it go" she says. Or "Cleo, not my head phones!" Times like this I end up back on the play stand.
Here is some of my handy work. For a closer look, click on the picture.

I have fun on my play stand. Gypsy is always there to play with. And sometimes I lose a feather and that makes a wonderful toy to beak.

Mom put a box of Kleenex on the stand and Gypsy and I both enjoy tearing into those.

Gypsy seems fond of playing with hers while she is hanging
upside down.

Looks like there may be a game of tug-o-war.

Mom is finished with the computer, so now it is time to go into the living room. I bet it is almost 12:30 and Mom is going to have lunch and watch that Port Charles soap opera show.
